Icehouse Pictures is Massachusetts premier digital transfer service specializing in the conversion of home movies to DVD. Our film transfer process is unlike any other. Once we receive your films our trained technicians closely examine them for any physical damage and deterioration. Most problems we encounter can be repaired on the premises. After the film has been inspected we prepare your film for transfer. All film is thoroughly cleaned and lubed with a product called FilmGuard which removes the dirt and scratches from the film and protects it from further damage.
When transferring to DVD we use a telecine projector that projects an aerial image onto a 3 chip CCD HD camera. The process is a lens to lens film transfer with no screens involved. The digital camera is synched directly to a computer via firewire so the process remains completely digital. This film capture method produces an extremely high quality, flicker-free film transfer with uniform light distribution and perfect focus.
During the post-production process the color and brightness of each pixel is individually adjusted for optimum results. The color is enhanced and the image is sharpened digitally. The film is adjusted to meet proper IRE luminance levels. We also delete any blank scenes and add fades, transitions and dissolves between clips.
Unlike other companies we do not charge extra for any of these services. There are no hidden fees or charges. All films submitted to us undergo the same extensive treatment no matter what film transfer package you choose. At Icehouse Pictures we believe its our job to provide you with the best looking film transfer and you shouldn't have to pay extra for it.
