Convert 8mm Film to DVD

The process to convert 8mm film to DVD varies from company to company. Most people don't realize how many different techniques there are out there for converting 8mm film to DVD. That is why it is extremely important to do your homework and find a company that is going to use a process that will give you the cleanest, most accurate representation of your original film.

At Icehouse Pictures we convert 8mm film to DVD through a process called "aerial image transfer". We use true state of the art telecine projectors that produce an aerial image. The floating image is then captured by a high-quailty photographic camera lens. Each frame of the 8mm film is projected from lens to lens. This technique does not require a diffused surface to pick up the image so the camera lens focuses directly on the image itself. Since there is no actual screen within the optical chain there is no noticeable texture or grain from the screen in the final digitized product. Aerial imaging is the most light-efficient way to exactly replicate film to a digitized format.

So when you finally decide to convert your 8mm film to DVD choose to have an aerial image transfer. For stunning picture quality and highly accurate color reproduction choose Icehouse Pictures.
